On December 20, 2014, the second visit of Dr. Jeroni Galmés to the research group " Anillo de Investigación en Ciencia Antártica ART 1102". This visit was possible thanks to the MEC project. During his stay,l Dr. Galmés taught in the course “Biochemistry and Mechanisms of Stress in Plats - PCNE40" offered for the Doctoral Program in Sciences of Natural Resources of Universidad de La Frontera. In addition, he gave two lectures. The first one on “Supercharging photosynthesis: on the way from Nature to bioengineering approaches" was offered to students of graduate programs of Universidad de La Frontera. The second was on “Efecto del estrés sobre diversos componentes de la fotosíntesis" for students and faculty of Facultad de Cs Forestales of Universidad de Concepción. In research, he has been analyzing data obtained in situ in the Antarctic by applying warming to determine if higher temperature in the Antarctic will limit photosynthesis and at what level these limitations would occurr (biochemical level or CO2 diffusion level). In addition, Dr. Galmés participated in an expedition to a high montain site in Central Chile to compare the results of the Antarctic ecotype of Colobanthus quitensis with those of the Andean ecotype. This species has a wide latitudinal distribution from the Equator to the Antarctic.
