On Friday, September 29, we received the 7th grade students at the José Giordano School of Nueva Imperial at the Laboratory of Plant Physiology and Molecular Biology, of the Institute of Agroindustries, UFRO. During this visit, the students were instructed in the work rules of a scientific research laboratory, the care of laboratory material and the recognition of basic instruments.

The students also participated in a presentation where they could learn more about our work in the study of extremophile plants, specifically our research on the ecophysiology of Antarctic plants. At the end of the presentation, the students visited the greenhouse and our growth chambers, to learn about the only two species of vascular plants that naturally grow in Antarctica: Deschampsia antarctica and Colobanthus quitensis. We appreciate this visit and hope to contribute to the motivation of future scientists!
